Mission
For nearly 40 years, Iris Domestic Violence Center (formerly operating as Capital Area Family Violence Intervention Center and The Battered Women's Program), a nonprofit domestic violence service organization in Louisiana, has provided professional, compassionate, and empowering support to battered women and their children in the Greater Baton Rouge area and surrounding parishes.
Iris Domestic Violence Center is dedicated to the empowerment of women, men and children who have suffered domestic abuse and we are therefore committed to the elimination of both personal and societal violence in the lives of all individuals.
No one deserves to be a victim of abuse, beaten or physically threatened, no matter what the excuse. Society’s message to the abuser needs to be that, while it may be human to feel anger or experience conflict, it is inhumane and unacceptable to release those feelings by violating others and if someone does so, they will be held accountable.
My room was very clean and spacious. It had two beds so my child didn't have to sleep with me.
I must compliment Iris staff. They are very attentive and caring. I felt they put meeting my needs first.
Hats off to the awesome Legal Department at Iris. I didn't have to worry about having money for my protective order, my divorce nor obtaining custody for my children. Thanks sooooo much.
OMG!! Thank you IRIS for the forethought of a computer lab. It kept me connected to my job and to my church.
